5th Anniversary of Poland’s Accession to the European Union – 5th Anniversary of MAart Agency Translation Services to all the European Union Bodies
The most recent tender for translation services for the European Parliament (PL/2008/MAIN) for the period of 2008-2012, was announced last year. Once again, MAart Agency was selected as the exclusive provider of translation services for the EU bodies, confirming our excellent record and market leadership for premium quality translation services.
We are pleased to present the profiles of three young people, thanks to whom work in our day-to-day office operations is so much more efficient.
Marcin Marzec, Administrative Assistant. He supports the Project Managers responsible for servicing translations for the European Union.
Bartosz Konowrocki is the new Administration and Logistics Specialist at MAart Agency and therefore is responsible for the logistics and administration on behalf of all the departments.

The TRANSLATE POLAND Social Campaign
What is the goal of the Translate Poland Campaign initiated by MAart Agency? Maja Zawierzeniec: The main goal of the campaign ‘[Let’s] Translate Poland (before 2012)’ is the promotion of applied translation and communication for tourism, business and leisure in the urban environment. The project will start off with identifying information and communication gaps, and providing correct translation of all useful information for tourists and business people living and working in Poland. We wish to use our vast resources, knowledge and experience to create a comprehensive multilingual environment that facilitates everyday communication for a multicultural society. What is the origin of the campaign? Maja Zawierzeniec:As professionals specialising in the area of translation, which requires a certain passion for foreign languages, communication, correct translation, and clarity, we have been pointing out for many years, the incongruity and deficiencies in our linguistic environment, which is supposed to serve not only the Poles but also foreigners living here and visiting the country. The fifth anniversary of Polish accession to the EU, as well as the approaching organisation of Euro Cup Championships in Poland in 2012, offer a good opportunity to audit our country from a “linguistic” point of view. We want Poland to be perceived as a cosmopolitan and foreigner-friendly country, and this can only be achieved if we create a proper multilingual environment for foreigners. Is the Translate Poland Campaign restricted to translators? Maja Zawierzeniec: It’s a social campaign that has been divided into several stages, and translation is just one of them. People who are passionate about photography and keen observers of surrounding reality are invited to document communication gaps, mistranslations and linguistic absurdities in our environment and public space. Our colleagues, clients and associates all have ample opportunities to observe how deficient we are in this respect during their business or vacation trips to various parts of our country. Others, who have contacts with foreigners for professional or social reasons, are encouraged to initiate discussions and draw up lists of communication issues that are most troublesome while travelling and living in Poland. Last but not least, translators of the five most popular European languages (English, German, French, Russian, Spanish) are then invited to translate public announcements and other communication materials as part of our project. How can one take part in the campaign? Maja Zawierzeniec:Photographic material, lists, opinions and suggestions should initially be sent to me at m.zawierzeniec@maart.pl throughout the summer. Within a month the Translate Poland Portal should be ready and once we launch it, people can register and contribute material directly. Additionally, translators and revisers should start registering and collaborating on the translation part of the project starting in July. Watch out for the official launch announcement at www.translatepoland.org We shall also be promoting the Translate Poland Campaign to various PR and networking communities at www.poland.gov.pl, LinkedIn, nasza-klasa.pl portal and in the media.
