International Conference TM-Europe 2008
On October 9-10, 2008 at the Marriot Hotel in Warsaw the first edition of the TM-Europe International Conference was held. The conference was organised by the Polish Association of Translation Agencies (PSBT) and TM-Global (a consulting division of MAart Agency) and dedicated to process, project and quality management as well as best practices in the GILT trade and applications in the technological and IT fields. The conference was supported by 8 main sponsors in the field as well as 4 major industry patrons. One of the sponsors was MAart Agency, which was also responsible for all related organizational issues.
The conference was addressed to managers, project managers, suppliers, clients, analysts and other professionals in the translation, localisation and internationalisation fields and attracted more than 130 participants from around the world.
The conference began with a presentation prepared by TM-Global: a thorough report presenting the results of research on the Polish and European GILT markets. Unique in terms of scope, the survey was addressed to approximately 30,000 industry contacts and over 1,000 respondents fully completed the questionnaire. Peter Reynolds (CEO of TM-Global) presented the results of research on the European market while Monika Popiołek (Vice President of PSBT and President of MAart Agency) presented the details of the Polish market survey. The conference programme also included workshops concerning sales and CRM, presentations on the newest CAT and PM technologies and tools, an MS Office localisation case study (a presentation by Microsoft), conducted simultaneously in many languages, a presentation of models for evaluating translation quality and international quality standards, process management, suppliers of translation and localisation services, best practices and management tips as well as an analysis of the GILT market from the perspective of freelance suppliers vs. global concerns that employ translators and partner translation companies around the world. The conference was concluded with an open debate, transmitted live online, between freelance translators and translation agencies concerning the future and potential of the GILT market.

EUATC Conference in Paris
On November 20-21, 2009 MAart Agency, represented by its President Monika Popiołek, participated in the 4th International Conference organized by the European Union of Associations of Translation Companies (EUATC) in Paris, France.
MAart Agency Representation at the tcword 2008 Conference
At the tcworld Conference in Wiesbaden, Germany, Monika Popiolek, President and CEO of MAart Agency, and Peter Reynolds of TM-Global, gave a practical implementation to the EN 15038 standard and showed the participants how they could use it to improve their translation management. MAart Agency was the first Polish company to implement and certify according to this standard at the beginning of 2007 and this workshop was based on real process charts, practical tips and examples of how to proceed efficiently and quickly with implementation and certification. Małgorzata Laszuk and Piotr Peszyński, MAart Project Managers, also participated in the conference and fair which was attended by 2,200 people. The event is organized annually by tekom, the German professional association for technical communication, and attracts a large number of players from the technical documentation, localisation and translation industry. The conference is a good source of new ideas and information about tools and technologies.
ISO International Standardisation Organization Congress
On August 10-15, 2009 in Moscow the annual ISO International Standardisation Organization Congress – TC 37 was held. The Polish trade was represented at the congress by the President of MAart Agency, Monika Popiołek - the expert in ISO – TC 37 (SC2).
Trainings
Project Managers awarded certificates CLP Level 1
We are pleased to announce that MAart Agency Project Managers Małgorzata Laszuk and Piotr Peszyński have successfully completed the Certified Localisation Professional (CLP) Level 1 Training with distinction and received course certificates. The online training lasted a few months and finished with a week-long onsite course and exams. The onsite training was organized on July 8-11 of this year in Warsaw by The Institute of Localisation Professionals (TILP) and the Polish Association of Translation Agencies (PSBT), with content-based support from the EUATC, TechLink & the Localisation Research Centre (LRC) at the University of Limerick, Ireland.
Training for MAart Project Managers
On July 19, 2009 all MAart Project Managers participated in a one-day workshop concerning professional project management. The training included methods of effective communication and building long-term client and translator relations, people and time management techniques, as well as coordination of all the processes involved in complex project management.
Exclusive Contracts
Exclusive contracts with European Union institutions
MAart Agency has been awarded another exclusive contract by the EU Translation Centre (CdT) for English to Polish translation - a medical translation project (FL/MED07-02) and an environmental protection translation project (FL/ENV08) as well as the exclusive contract for provision of translation services for the European Parliament, Committee of the Regions, Economic and Social Committee and the European Court of Auditors (Tender PL/2008/EU) in the field of written translations from English, Bulgarian, Czech, Danish, French, Spanish, Lithuanian, Estonian, German, Romanian, Slovakian, Hungarian and Italian into Polish.
Exclusive contract with Abbott Laboratories Poland
MAart Agency was selected by tender, joint with a bidding auction, as one of three translation offices in Poland to provide translation and proofreading services for the company Abbott Laboratories Poland.
