Helsińska Fundacja Praw Człowieka

The Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights in Poland, with its office in Warsaw, was founded in 1989. its inception was preceded by the seven years of the Helsinki Committee’s operations in Poland which had led underground operations since 1982. Today the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights in Europe is one of more experienced and professionally operating NGOs in the area of human rights.

The major areas of expertise include the following:

  • national education in the area of human rights protection
  • international operations
  • protecting the public interest

KINO.LAB

The KINO.LAB cinema program is part of a bigger initiative by the Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle and an expansion of the previous initiatives by the Media Art Laboratories. The basic aims include the presentation of 20th century achievements in the field of moving pictures, with special emphasis on independent productions, artistically and conceptually valid, as well as the support for the Polish contemporary search in this area by organizing presentations of works by Polish artists, their meetings with the public, public discussions, conferences and lectures on Polish art. It also aims to touch upon the topics relevant for the global trends problems in the field of moving pictures.

Festiwal Kontakt

The International Theatre Festival KONTAKT has been organized by the Wilam Horzyca Theatre since 1991. KONTAKT has crafted a space for reviewing and promoting the most attractive theatrical undertakings by theatres from Eastern and Central Europe, and confronting those with Western theatres. KONTAKT represents an opportunity for multi-national agreement in a highly varied and complex reality. KONTAKT is a competition with the performances subject to evaluation by an international jury which awards three prizes to the best shows.
